  Define and agree testing procedures within IT.

  Outcome

  Ability to perform testing in accordance with agreed testing procedures will help to improve the appropriateness and effectiveness of testing performed.

3Intermediate

• Practice

  Identify and agree an organizational test strategy which identifies the test levels to be performed and the testing within those levels with each level having clearly defined objectives, scope and assigned responsibilities(e.g. unit, integration, system, UAT etc.).

  Outcomes

  • The test strategy serves as a starting point for testing to be performed.
  • Test levels are unambiguously defined which reduces the likelihood of overlap between the test levels thus leading to a more efficient test process.
  • Also since the test objectives and scope of the various levels is aligned, fewer holes are likely to remain leading to a more effective test process.

4Advanced

• Practice

  Ensure a test organization structure is in place and aligned to the functional areas and independence is achieved.

  Outcome

  Creates an integrated working environment with a common delivery goal.

  Ensure testing is continually monitored and optimized in accordance with test plans.

  Outcome

  Actions are taken in test plans without delay if any deviations occur.
